The February meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on February 15th at Frisco Public Library.

Club President Greg Pulcini called the meeting to order at 6:56 PM.

A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the January meeting minutes as published. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote.

VISITORS -- Lawrence Harville AMA District 8 Vice President

PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Greg Pulcini: Gerry Bishop has been appointed Safety Officer. The AMA charter for NDRCC has been renewed.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Patrick McNamara : The Frisco Public Library now does 3D or solid printing at $ 0.15per gram. Patrick had an example that he had printed by the Library. The raffle will draw for individual specific prizes tonight. The March meeting will have a major prize such as an ARF. Tickets bought in the February will go into the drawing for the March prize.

SECRETARY’S REPORT -- Billy Slater: None given.

TREASURER’S REPORT -- Dave Cotton: NDRCC is a member of Tom Thumb’s Good Neighbor program. This results in about $60 per quarter in revenue for NDRCC. Go to the NDRCC web site for information on how you can sign up. Dave is also investigating a similar program at Kroger.

Dave present a change in the bank NDRCC uses for our banking. He proposed that we change from BBVA Compass to the BTH bank. BTH will pay us approximately $700 per year interest and will not charge fees. BBVA would not pay interest to us and charged us fees. BTH is a Texas based 100 year old FDIC insured bank. A motion was made to approve this change, seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote.

Per the bylaws Dave In February Meeting proposed adding a convenience fee to credit card type transactions done on our web site. This was published in the January meeting notes again per the bylaws. A motion was made to approve the adding of this fee, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. Our bylaws require a two thirds margin approval of those voting members present for approval of this type of change. This requirement was met by the unanimous voice vote.

Dave presented a proposed 2017 budget. This budget is as presented revenue neutral. A motion was made to approve this proposed 2017 budget, seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos: Membership stands at 155.

FIELD REPORT -- Bob Edlet-Murphy: Bruce is replacing some plywood on the east side of the shelter. He has added two pull down electrical outlets. Bob will fill in holes in the access road with sacks of gravel as needed.

SAFETY REPORT -- Gerry Bishop: Gerry encouraged all members to review the safety rules. If you see unsafe actions say something to the individuals.

SOUND REPORT – Billy Slater: No issues with sound/ TRAINING –We are looking for an individual to coordinate training.

RAFFLE -- Rex Lawrence: The raffle will draw for individual specific prizes tonight. The March meeting will have a major prize such as an ARF. Tickets bought in the February will go into the drawing for the March prize.

CD REPORTS and EVENTS: There will be an Aero-Tow Monday March 20th starting at 10AM. This is an interesting event with a number of very large sailplanes, It is well worth watching. Charles Shafer.

Float Fly will be April 29 at Willow Grove Park. This is the same site that the Falcons Club uses and is well set up for float flys.

Youth Day is scheduled for April 15th. Bob Edlet-Murphy is working with the Scouts to arrange this event. War Birds Over Texas is scheduled for June 9-10th. Charles will be sending out volunteer sheets soon. He also needs help with prizes.

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS: The AED needs checking. Nurse Olga pointed this out and has agreed to do this and to check our other medical supplies.

January 2017 Minutes

 

The January meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on January 18, 2017 at Frisco Public Library. Club President Greg Pulcini called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the December meeting minutes as published. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote.

VISITORS --Greg Boyd Arthur Xie Jim Stout - New Member joins NDRCC from California

PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Greg Pulcini: A motion was made and seconded after discussion to purchase a new mower similar to the zero turn mower acquired in 2016. Approval passed by count of hands. One of the older green mowers is to be eliminated to make room in the storage containers for the new mower. Presentations are needed. Charles Schafer discussed a proposal by Aero Hobbies to make a presentation on drones. Dale O’Daniel proposed a presentation by a full scale pilot friend.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Patrick McNamara : A donation of a subscription to the AMA Model Aviation News to the Frisco Library to satisfy a Gold Leader Club requirement was discussed. A motion was made, seconded and approved by voice vote to make this donation. Two events were discussed, the first two float flys The first on April 29th at Lake Dallas the Falcons site according to Charles Schafer. The second float fly will be held in the fall. The next event is a Scout Day and is being finalized by Bob Edler-Murphy.

SECRETARY’S REPORT -- Billy Slater: None given.

TREASURER’S REPORT -- Dave Cotton: Dave presented NDRCC’s present financial status and projections for 2017. Printed copies of this information were available at the meeting. A motion was made, and seconded, to approve financial report as given. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote. Dave proposed adding the Paypal fees to renewal fee. This would be approximately $3.90 for a full membership and less for other levels of membership. Bylaws require that this increase be published and then voted on the next month's (February) meeting. Approval will require a two thirds approval of members present.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos: None given

FIELD REPORT -- Bob Edlet-Murphy: The field was inspected earlier this week and some minor repairs were made. The landlord has put a salt lick outside the automatic gate that has been pushed inside our field. Bob will move it back outside and away from our gate. The combination lock code will be changed in the near future and the new code will be emailed to paid up members at that time.

SAFETY REPORT -- Dave Schafer: Two incidents of electric planes being left powered and unattended have occurred. Both of these had motors start on their own and while no one was injured it could have been very different.

SOUND REPORT – Billy Slater: No issues in January

TRAINING – Coordinator Needed: Dale O’Daniel had one student sign off and has one more in training.

RAFFLE -- Rex Lawrence : A P-51 ARF was raffled, Billy Slater won. This raffle was sponsored by RC Works at Lake Forest and McKinney Parkway.

December 2016 Minutes

 

The December meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on December 15th, 2016 at Valley View Christian Church. Club President Greg Pulcini called the meeting to order at 7:00PM.

This NDRCC Christmas Party was held. The business meeting was brief.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Dave Schaefer: Dave discussed ideas for programs for 2017 and is looking for suggestions and volunteers to prepare and present programs. Anyone with a suggestion or who is ready to give a program is asked to send Dave an email at the address for the VP on the NDRCC web site.

SECRETARY’S REPORT -- Billy Slater substituting for Patrick McNamara: From the November meeting --- “Next January’s meeting will be the first to be held in the Frisco public library. The meeting is planned for Wednesday January 18th in the McCallum Room in the Frisco Public library. Registration for January date opens on Friday and notification will be sent to the membership once reservation of the room is confirmed.”

TRAINING – Dale O’ Daniel: No report given. We are looking for a coordinator for 2017. A Solo Certificate was awarded to James Anthony Theiler on the successful completion of his training. Thanks to all who assisted James.

RAFFLE -- Jacque Parker: The Horizon F4U 4Q was the quarterly prize

CD REPORTS and EVENTS: Josh Kleen reported that the spring float fly would not be at Hidden Cove. Negotiations are underway with the Falcons RC Club and the city of Lake Dallas to hold this event at Lake Dallas in early May.

OLD BUSINESS: Bruce Lakatos mailed the NDRCC field location notifications to nearby airports shortly before the December meeting . As a reminder Dave Schafer gave a presentation at the November meeting on the AMA view of what constitutes an “airport”: The AMA definition includes any registered private airstrip, many of which are nothing more than a smooth grass field. There are three such airfields within five miles of Eagle field. The board will notify the owners of these fields in accordance with AMA guidance. The notification will consist of a letter based on the AMA notification template and a cover letter noting that this is purely to ensure compliance with AMA recommendations.

November 2016 Minutes

 

The November meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on November 17th, 2016 at Valley View Christian Church. Club President Greg Pulcini called the meeting to order at 7:04PM.

A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the October meeting minutes as published. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Greg Pulcini: Club elections will be held at the December meeting. The NDRCC board put forth the following proposed slate of candidates for the 2017 officers and appointed positions.

The floor was opened for nominees from the membership. None were given. As such, the above candidates will be presented for a vote at the December 2016 meeting. Greg noted that we are still searching for a Training Coordinator and we would love a volunteer.

A proposal to change the format of the raffle, in order to reduce the effort required by the raffle coordinator and renew interest in the raffle, was presented. Proposal was to raffle a single larger prize each month, such as a “40” sized GP/EP arf, a “bind-n-fly”, or other such prize. This proposal is still being considered and will be open for further discussion during the December meeting.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos: Current club membership stands at 186. Reminder that in-person member ship via cash or check saves the club $8 in fees over online renewal using PayPal.

FIELD REPORT -- Bob Edlet-Murphy: Bob was absent. New windsock has been installed. Kudos to the grass keepers. The field continues to look excellent. In the past, there was discussion about placing fill dirt around the end of the culvert running under the runway. After discussion, the decision was made to not place any more dirt. However, the culvert and electric fence post in line with it will be painted orange for visual reference.

TRAINING – Dale O’ Daniel: Absent. Training continues to be quiet

CD REPORTS and EVENTS: Club youth day -- Youth day was held on October 22nd. Large number of Scouts in attendance. Event was a resounding success. Ft Worth Thunderbirds float fly was held recently and several NDRCC members were in attendance. The morning was nice. Storms rolled in in the afternoon.

OLD BUSINESS: No old business.

NEW BUSINESS: 2017 event calendar is still very open. The only confirmed, sanctioned event in Warbirds Over Texas for June 9th and 10th. Also planned are a spring and fall youth/Scouts day. One unsanctioned event has been confirmed for the calendar: Aerotow day on Monday Mar 13th.

With the club moving out of Valley View Christian Church, the board feels that it would be appropriate to present the church with a gift in appreciation of being such gracious hosts to the club. John’s suggestion was a donation the church capital fundraising effort currently underway. This was discussed with the membership and agreed upon. A motion was made to donate $250 to the church. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved on voice vote.

The October meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on October 20th, 2016 at Valley View Christian Church. Club President Greg Pulcini called the meeting to order at 6:59PM.

A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the September meeting minutes as published. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Greg Pulcini: Greg proposed a new meeting location: Frisco Public Library. Proposed to start meeting there in January 2017. General feedback of those in attendance was positive.

Greg asked the membership to think about the 2017 events calendar and to make sure that we had people for any event proposed. Proposed event calendar for 2017 will be presented at November meeting.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT -- Dave Schaefer: Dave showed pictures of X15 Delta launch and “landing” at this year’s BlackRock event, pictures of the X2 on display, and of the presentation of “a little pot from Colorado” to Art Wagner

SECRETARY’S REPORT -- Patrick McNamara: In the absence of Dave Cotton, Patrick presented a summary of club accounts. A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the financial report. Approval passed by unanimous voice vote.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos: Current club membership stands at 184. Membership renewal starts in November.

FIELD REPORT -- Bob Edlet-Murphy: No report

Fishtrap road south of the field is closed due to a collapsed culvert. No idea when it will be fixed. Further updates as more information is available.

SAFETY REPORT -- Dave Schafer: No issues. Dave did implore the club membership to “not plug in electric planes while the plane is in your lap”.
