October 2014 Minutes

 

The  October 2014 meeting of the North Dallas R/C Club was called to order by Don Hafer on October 16th, 2014 At Valley View Christian Church.  

Previous month’s minutes were approved as posted on the website.  

VISITORS/NEW MEMBERS – Nathan Green's siter, mom and grandmother.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT-  Don Hafer.  Don Reported on Charles' current condition.  Charles is anxious to get back.

SECRETARY – Bruce Lakatos.  Bruce displayed the plaque from the AMA that our club received for 10 years as a Gold Leader Club.  The AMA sent patches to distribute to the membership.  Bruce also mentioned that the club membership is up to 201 as of today.

VICE PRESIDENT – Charles Shafer.  Absent.   

TREASURER/MEMBERSHIP – Charlie Pyne gave a report of the financial status of the club.  A motion to accept treasurer's report passed.    

SAFETY- Dave Schaefer- We have purchased additional first aid supplies.  They will be kept unlocked above the existing first aid box.  We are still looking for an appropriate AED.

FIELD –  Dave Schaefer- There are new additions to the existing pilot boxes for added pilot protection while at the flight line.

SOUND-  Billy Slater. No issues.  All Quiet.

TRAINING – Dale O'Daniel- Dale presented Nathan Green with a framed certificate for his achievements in flight training.  We still have a few members in training.  

WEBMASTER –  Ken Sienksi.   The website is now set up for 2015 renewals. 

FACEBOOK- Josh Kleen.  All going well.  There has been more activity on the Facebook page.

CD REPORTS –  John Grubbs reported that attendance at the indoor flying has been consistent.  The Sept. float fly was a success with 19 pilots registered.  He also mentioned that he will schedule dates for the next Float Fly.  The next indoor flying will be on the 23rd of this month.  

OLD BUSINESS-  We are still looking into adding a canopy system to the shelter at the field.  A vote was held to approve $175 for the canopy project.  The new sign at the entrance has been installed by Charles and Bruce. 

NEW BUSINESS -  A request was made by the Sickle Cell Foundation for us to put on a demonstration in the Auto building at Fair Park.

SHOW and TELL – Allen Buckner showed his new Hangar 9 BF 109.  Nathan Green showed a plane that was passed down to him by his grandfather.  Bruce Lakatos showed a bad binding plug that came with a receiver that he purchaced.  

RAFFLE-  Jaques Parker conducted the monthly raffle.  The next quarterly prize is a Lancair Legacy which will be raffled in December.

PROGRAM -  Josh's mother-in law Mrs. Lopez gave a very informative presentation of basic trauma and emergency procedures.  Dave Schaefer showed a very brief video of his recent trip to Black Rock Desert.

 

September 2014 Minutes

The September 2014 meeting of the North Dallas R/C Club was called to order by Charles Shafer   on September 13, 2014 At Eagle Field.  This is Family Day at the field.

Previous month’s minutes were approved as posted on the website.  

VISITORS/NEW MEMBERS – Since this was an event day there were too many to list.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT-  Don Hafer.  Absent.

SECRETARY – Bruce Lakatos.  Please excuse the accuracy of this month's minutes.  Bruce was busy cooking while the meeting was under way.  Nothing else to report.  

VICE PRESIDENT – Charles Shafer.  Mike's Hobby shop is still on schedule to close.  All other area upcoming events have been posted through email.  

TREASURER/MEMBERSHIP – Charlie Pyne gave a report of the financial status of the club.  A motion to accept treasurer's report passed.   There have been more renewals this past month. 

SAFETY- Dave Schaefer- We are still looking into additional first aid supplies.   

FIELD –  Dave Schaefer- no issues.  Gordon Guillory pointed out that the flight line fence could use some repair.

SOUND-  Billy Slater.  Absent but there are no issues.  All Quiet.

TRAINING – Dale O'Daniel- Absent.

WEBMASTER –  Ken Sienksi.   Absent.

FACEBOOK- Josh Kleen.  All going well.  There has been more activity on the Facebook page.

CD REPORTS –  Float Fly is Saturday Sept. 20 at Hidden Cove Park.  There is no entry fee to the park if you have a plane with you.  The annual Boy Scout event will be held on Saturday Oct. 18.  Free hot dog lunch for all who participate.  The next indoor flying will be announced.    

OLD BUSINESS-  John Reed is working on the Orchard Park retirement home project.  

NEW BUSINESS -  None for the moment.

August 2014 Minutes

The August 2014 meeting of the North Dallas R/C Club was called to order by Don Hafer on August  21, 2014 At Valley View Christian Church.  

Previous month’s minutes were approved as posted on the website.  

VISITORS/NEW MEMBERS – Dennis Allen, Jack Molen and  son Brad.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT-  Don Hafer.  September meeting will be held at the field on Sept. 13 2014 to include a potluck lunch.  Don gave a update on the success of the Caron Center RC presentation.  Special thanks to Woody, Billy, Ken, Josh and Charlie.

SECRETARY – Bruce Lakatos.   Completed reading rules per our AMA Gold leader status.  Bruce presented a check to the club for $535 which were proceeds from the sale of a vintage equipt. donation from former member Mark Trewitt.  

VICE PRESIDENT – Charles Shafer.  Absent.   

TREASURER/MEMBERSHIP – Charlie Pyne gave a report of the financial status of the club.  A motion to accept treasurer's report passed.   There have been 6 more renewals this past month. 

SAFETY- Dave Schaefer- Absent.  We are still looking into additional first aid supplies.   

FIELD –  Dave Schaefer- no issues.  The electric fence was damaged by horses and was quickly repaired by John Reed, Dale O'Daniel, Rex Lawrence and Billy Slater.

SOUND-  Billy Slater. No issues.  All Quiet.

TRAINING – Dale O'Daniel- We still have a few members in training.  

WEBMASTER –  Ken Sienksi.   Nothing new. 

FACEBOOK- Josh Kleen.  All going well.  There has been more activity on the Facebook page.

CD REPORTS –  John Grubbs mentioned that we are still on for the next Float Fly.  John is still looking for raffle prize donations.    The next indoor flying will be announced.    

OLD BUSINESS-  Property tax update- Scott Brkovich is still working on it. We are also still looking into adding a canopy system to the shelter at the field.  A vote was held per our bylaws concerning the abolishment of youth voting rights.  Voted has passed and bylaws will be updated.  

NEW BUSINESS -  Don Hafer put out a request for volunteers to coordinate a demonstration at the Orchard Park Assisted Living Center in Murphy, TX.  John Reed is looking into this.  Also needed is a volunteer to coordinate a static display at the Confederate Airforce event held on Oct. 3,4,5.  Dale O'Daniel is looking into the possibility of our participation in an air show at Aerocountry in McKinney.

SHOW and TELL – Dale O'Daniel showed a Stinger 90 electric fan jet from Motion RC.  Billy had an electric Extra 260, John Reed showed his new quad copter and Josh gave a brief demontration of some of the new AS3X technology.

RAFFLE-  Jaques Parker conducted the monthly raffle.  The next quarterly prize is a very nice soldering system.

NDRCC Meeting Minutes for July 2014

 

The July 2014 meeting of the North Dallas R/C Club was called to order by Don Hafer on July 17, 2014 At Valley View Christian Church.  

Previous month’s minutes were approved as posted on the website.  

VISITORS/NEW MEMBERS – New members Luke Wilson, Tom Clark and Anthony Cuington.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT-  Don Hafer.  September meeting will be held at the field on Sept. 13 2014 to include a potluck lunch.  

SECRETARY – Bruce Lakatos.   Read a few select rules per our AMA Gold leader status.  Bruce also noted that we now have 185 members of which 20 are juniors.    

VICE PRESIDENT – Charles Shafer.  Absent.   

TREASURER/MEMBERSHIP – Charlie Pyne gave a report of the financial status of the club along with the final numbers from the warbird event.  A motion to accept treasurer's report passed.   There have been a few more renewals this past month. 

SAFETY- Dave Schaefer- Dave informed the membership of a recent incident out at the field and the need for better first aid supplies.  Dave also brought up the idea of purchasing a defibulator unit for the field.  

FIELD –  Dave Schaefer- no issues.  

SOUND-  Billy Slater. No issues.  All Quiet.

TRAINING – Dale O'Daniel- We have a couple members in training now.  

WEBMASTER –  Ken Sienksi.   Nothing new other than a few technical issues and the acquisition of a new ".club" domain.

FACEBOOK- Josh Kleen.  All going well.  There has been more activity on the Facebook page.

CD REPORTS –  John Grubbs mentioned that we are still on for the next Float Fly.  John is still looking for raffle prize donations.    The next indoor flying will be Aug. 14th.  The Denton swap meet will be held on August 9th.  

OLD BUSINESS-  Property tax update- Scott Brkovich is still working on it.     The date has been finalized for the Carron Treatment Center demonstration which is Wed. 7/30/2014.  We are also still looking into adding a canopy system to the shelter at the field.  Greg Pulcini  has turned over $300 to the club from coke machine proceeds.

NEW BUSINESS -  The FAA has come up with an update on their policies concerning model aircraft which we are in disagreement with.   An email will be sent out concerning this matter.  RC Hobbies is closed but will soon re-open under new management.  We are also notifying the membership of a change to the by-laws.  This concerns eliminating voting rights for youth members, similar to that of Associate Members.  This will be voted on at the next meeting per our by-laws.  A motion passed to allow the 2015 warbird event dates to be Friday and Saturday 6/13-15/2015.  Field will re-open Sunday 6/16/2015

June 2014 Minutes

NDRCC Meeting Minutes for June 2014

 

The June 2014 meeting of the North Dallas R/C Club was called to order by Don Hafer on June 19, 2014 At Valley View Christian Church.  

Previous month’s minutes were approved as posted on the website.  

VISITORS/NEW MEMBERS – New members Bob and Reid Edler Murphy, Bradlie Mennenga.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT-  Don Hafer.  Nothing to report.  John Reed left message that Paul McManus is recovering.  

SECRETARY – Bruce Lakatos.   Read 1 announcement and a few select rules per our AMA Gold leader status.  Bruce also thanked Ivan Shomer, Linda Shirley, Scot and Nick Brkovich, Missy Kleen  and Jody Matheson for their help with food service at the recent Warbird event.  

VICE PRESIDENT – Charles Shafer.  The Sept. meeting will be held at the field and will be potluck lunch.  Indoor flying will be only once per month during the summer.  Charles requested help with coming up with ideas for meeting programs.  He also mentioned the need for another member to help with training, preferably with electrical experience.  We are in need of another person to help with the mowing.

SAFETY- Dave Schaefer absent.  No safety issues.  Don Hafer did mention that it is a wise idea to clamp your work to a drill press.  

FIELD –  Dave Schaefer absent.  A sign was replaced at the front gate, more rocks were delivered to cover the parking area.  We can use more help with the mowing.  

SOUND-  Billy Slater. No issues.  All Quiet.

TRAINING – Jim Williams and Dale O'Daniel- No training issues to report this month.

WEBMASTER –  Ken Sienksi.   Nothing new.

FACEBOOK- Josh Kleen.  All going well.  Please post more pics on Facebook.  We have 70 likes.

CD REPORTS –  John Grubbs mentioned that we are in need of more donations for the next Float Fly.  Ed Kettler gave a summary of the Warbird event and mentioned a few changes that will need to be made next year.  78 pilots registered, 284 people were fed and there were no safety issues.  Ed thanked the  32 crew members for their efforts in making this event a success.  A motion passed to allow tentative dates and planning for next year's warbird event.

OLD BUSINESS-  Property tax update- Scott Brkovich is still working on it.  RC Hobbies is closed now and the status of Mike's is still up in the air.  Night flying participation was mentioned again by Dale O'Daniel.  

NEW BUSINESS -  Don Hafer mentioned that we are planning a very small indoor flight demo again at the Caron House which will be held either Wed. 7/30/2014 or Tues. Sept. 2.   An RAF Tempest airframe was donated for auction by Lou Montanero.  It raised $100 and was purchased by Rich Phillips.
