The August meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on August 22, 2018 at the Frisco Public Library.
Club President Greg Pulcini called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the July meeting minutes as published. Approval passed
unanimously, by voice vote.
VISITORS — None
PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Greg Pulcini:
West Texas Warbirds will be held in Lubbock this coming weekend. It is a two day event.
The North Dallas Float Fly held on August 4th was a success. Thirteen pilots registered and the event was
profitable. Discussion took place on whether we should hold two float flys next year and the consensus
was that we should.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Patrick McNamara:
The crashed foamy fan jet left at the field by an unknown person resulted in a review of the AMA rules
posted at the field. The new rules are not as complete and concise as the 2017 rules posted. As a result
the recommendation was to leave the posted 2017 rules in place.
SECRETARY’S REPORT — Billy Slater:
TREASURER’S REPORT — Dave Cotton:
Dave was not present but a printed copy of the monthly summary was available for review at the
Main expense was WBOT related. Dave reported that the electric was high ($62 vs normal $28) was
likely due to increased fan usage. Discussion was that this increase in electric was more likely due to RVs
being plugged in during WBOT.
Also CDs are starting to renew at a higher rate. Our total bank account has decreased by $3k since the
first of the year. Discussion on this was that this is probably normal with most income with renewals at
the end of the year and expenses occurring throughout the year.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos:
Membership stood at 157 as of the date of the meeting.
Bruce reminded that members 16 and under must be accompanied by a adult while at the field.
FIELD REPORT — Rodney Mcentire:
Rodney not present.
Field was mowed the date of the meeting.
SAFETY REPORT — Gerry Bishop:
There has been several incidents of people injured by spinning propellers. Be aware especially of
SOUND REPORT – Billy Slater:
TRAINING – Dave Schaefer:
Dave was not present.
Training is expected to pick up as the weather cools.
RAFFLE –Olga Lawson-Andrews :
Two nice set of metric and ANSI T-wrenches were raffled.
The quarterly prize of a Tower P-51 Mustang Shangri-La will be raffled at the September meeting.
CD REPORTS and EVENTS:
Gerry Bishop proposed an informal Warbird event for November 10th which is the day before Veterans
Day. Other clubs would be invited, no entry would be charged and the field would not be closed or
restricted to Warbirds. Lunch would be served. A motion was made, and seconded, to approve this
event as proposed. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote.
Discussion was held of possible affiliation with a Boy Scout group to assist with aviation merit badges.
The goal for NDRCC is support of Gold Leader Club status. To be investigated.
Also discussion was held of possible affiliation with a Civil Air Patrol group. Again the goal for NDRCC is
support of Gold Leader Club status. Patrick is looking for a contact in the CAP to make this happen.
There was discussion of using one of Jake’s (the nearby hamburger restaurant) meeting rooms as a
backup when the Frisco Library meeting room is not available. Dale O’daniel has talked with the
manager at Jake’s and gave the information to Patrick.
