May 2020 – Meeting Minutes

The May meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on May 21, 2020 via ZOOM due to Covid-19 restrictions.

President Dave Schaefer called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the April 2020 meeting minutes as published. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote.
VISITORS – None
PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Dave Schaefer:
We will be raffling a RTF FMS P-47.
Keep in mind social distancing when at the field and follow CDC and government recommendations.
When the buffalo in the field south of the flying field are near or blocking the gate be careful. The owner
of the buffalo claims they are gentle and will move if you drive slowly toward them. Several followed a
member onto the flying field and it took most of an hour to drive them out.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Josh Kleen:
Some members have reported that they are not getting club email notices. If this is an issue for you send Josh and email with information to joshkleen@gmail.com .
New gate code at the flying field will be installed Friday May 22. An email has been sent to all members on the active member email list.
SECRETARY’S REPORT — Billy Slater:
No report.
TREASURER’S REPORT — Dave Cotton:
Dave reported the financial condition as of the end of April .
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the financial report as presented by Dave. Approval
passed unanimously, by voice vote.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos:
Bruce reports 148 members as of the date of the meeting.
FIELD REPORT — Rodney Mcentire:
Field recently mowed.
Turn fans off when you leave until the timer is fixed.
Bruce Lakatos is talking to the runway resurfacing vendor. This vendor is working to get this project into his schedule.

SAFETY REPORT — Charles Schafer:
Charles reminded all to fly east of the runway. This restriction extends horizon to horizon.
SOUND REPORT – Billy Slater:
I – Billy Slater – am working on a sound footprint report for the NDCC field. The intent of this report is to determine our compliance with Aurbey’ noise ordinances at our current 100 dbA maximum sound level.
A preliminary report has been issued for review and testing was done on May 20th to verify the accuracy of this study.
TRAINING – Rich Phillips:
There has been minimal interest due to the Covid-19 situation.
RAFFLE — :
An online raffle was held for a RTF FMS P-47.
CD REPORTS and EVENTS:
Charles Schaefer reports that War Birds Over Texas has been rescheduled for September 25&26.
Charles reports that the Monroe warbirds event will be held.
Charles is working to reschedule the float fly early in October.
Charles is collecting donations for WBOT.
OLD BUSINESS:
Dave Schaefer was asked a question about the FAA’s remote ID proposal . Dave referred the question to the AMA website as the best source for information on this subject.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dave Schaefer recommends that everyone take a look at the “Projects Page” on the website and post new projects. The password to add projects is the current gate code.
