NDRCC Meeting Minutes – August 2022

The August 2022 meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on August 17, 2022 at the Prosper Town
Hall meeting room. President Josh Kleen called the meeting to order at 6:45 PM.
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the July meeting minutes as published. Approval passed
unanimously, by voice vote.
VISITORS – None
PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Josh Kleen:
Weather continues to be hot and dry. Hope that the predicted rain happens. Be aware of the various fire
extinguishers available at the field. Help to put out fires that may be accidentally started.
Any type of plane can start a fire.
Charlie Redfern passed away July 3. Art Wagner sent flowers in the name of the club to Charlie’s wife
Esta.
Time to think about officers for next year. If you are interested in serving the club please contact Josh.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Wayne Shuck:
Wayne reports that he has received Gold Leader Club certificates and posted them at the field.
SECRETARY’S REPORT — Billy Slater:
No Report.
TREASURER’S REPORT — Art Wagner:
Art reported the financial condition as of the end of July.
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the financial as presented by Art. Approval passed
unanimously, by voice vote.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos:
Bruce reports thru Art Wagner 147 members as of the date of the meeting.
FIELD REPORT — Rex Lawerance:
Rex reports that the field is green as a result of a recent 1.5 inches of rain. Mowing is planned after the
rain predicted for next week.
Wind moved some items around on the field but no damage was done.
SAFETY REPORT — Charles Schafer:
Charles was not present.

It was reported that some model rockets were fired at the field recently. The club has rules regarding
this and anyone planning to fire rockets must review thes rules and get prior approval.
A temporary rule was passed banning any type of rocket firing until the current drought is over.
SOUND REPORT – Billy Slater:
No report.
Josh pointed out that it is important that we help the Providence Village council with a sound ordnance.
They currently do not have any ordnance with regard to sound levels.
TRAINING – Rich Phillips:
Rich reported one student in training but delayed by hot weather.
He also reported one more potential student.
RAFFLE –Rich Phillips :
No raffle was held.
CD REPORTS and EVENTS:
Float Fly is being proposed for October 22.
WBOT is proposed for June 9 and 10th 2023. There was discussion of moving it to the fall to avoid hot
weather.
An informal jet day and war bird day were discussed but no dates were discussed.
OLD BUSINESS:
None discussed.
NEW BUSINESS:
None discussed.
OTHER:
Remote ID was discussed. FAA is still working on the rules. Our field will be a legal site with expanded
rules. Events that are off our field like the float fly will have temporary FAA approvals.

SHOW AND TELL:

Don Hafer brought the cowl of the Pawnee aero tow plane. He also brought a paint aerosol spray
adapter used for small projects. It is a ”Preval” and is available from Home Depot.
