November 2021 – Meeting Minutes

The November 2021 meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on November 17, 2021 via Zoom.
President Josh Kleen called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM.
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve September meeting minutes as published. Approval
passed unanimously, by voice vote.
No meeting was held in October.
VISITORS – None
PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Josh Kleen:
Josh stated that he is working on arranging an in-person meeting for December.
CAP (Civil Air Patrol) has expressed an interest in using our field for training law enforcement, firemen
and the like in drone operation. Josh stated that as long as it is mutually beneficial and complies with
AMA and NDRCC rules we would be interested. Vice President Wayne Shuck was asked to negotiate with
the responsible CAP individual.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Wayne Shuck:
Wayne gave a brief description of his contact with the CAP described above in Josh’s report on small
UAF training.
SECRETARY’S REPORT — Billy Slater:
No report.
TREASURER’S REPORT — Dave Cotton:
Dave reported the financial condition as of the end of October.
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the financial as presented by Dave. Approval passed
unanimously, by voice vote.
Dave discussed our normal end of year gifts to our landlord. Later in the meeting a motion was made,
and seconded, to approve this gift to the landlord. Approval passed unanimously, by voice vote.
Dave also reported on the float fly revenue.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos:
Bruce reports 157 members as of the date of the meeting.
Bruce thanked Scott Hazard for streamlining the website membership renewal.
FIELD REPORT — Rex Lawerance:

Charles Schafer reported that the field was to be one more time and then the mowers readied for
winter storage.
Josh thanked the mowing crew for their efforts this year.
SAFETY REPORT — Charles Schafer:
Charles reported that two “jets” hit the new fence installed by the land owner to the south. Both were
dead stick landings.
Josh is working with the land owner to the south to install and additional NDRCC lock on his property so
planes can be retrieved.
SOUND REPORT – Billy Slater:
I mentioned the new residential development to the north will mean the we will probably need to
reduce our 100 dBm upper noise limit. I plan to have a briefing on this for the January 2022 meeting.
TRAINING – Rich Phillips:
Rich reported one new student and four prospects.

RAFFLE –Rich Phillips :
No raffle was held.
CD REPORTS and EVENTS:
Josh reported 19 pilots at the recent Float Fly.
RC Expo in Round Rock Texas had 82 pilots.
No events are scheduled now but the 2022 Float Fly and WBOT are in the planning stages.
