OLD BUSINESS:
Josh Kleen reported that the FAA published a new advisory on remote ID. See AMA website for details.
We are still not required to report ID, this FAA advisory requires manufacturers to install remote ID
equipment.
The AMA will request exemptions for all AMA registered sites based on us being a CBO (community
based organization). We will not need remote ID at the flying field. At some time in the future we will
request an exception to the 400 ft altitude restriction.
NEW BUSINESS:
Josh Kleen described the turbine crash north of the field that resulted in a grass fire. This fire required
the fire department to respond and lead to a great deal of concern of the land owner in that area.
Josh moderated a discussion on this incident. This discussion covered possible rule changes, actions
proposed to both prevent and minimize damage from future crashes and reminders on crash
prevention.
No rule changes are currently in the works. Any rule change requires notice and the vote after
publishing.
Josh pointed out that we should all observe the following.
1. Is it safe to fly?
2. Is your equipment ready to fly safely?
3. Is the environment safe to fly in, wind, visibly, fire conditions, etc. ?
