September 2021 – Meeting Minutes

The September 2021 meeting of the North Dallas RC Club occurred on September 15, 2021 via ZOOM.
President Josh Kleen called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM.
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve August 2021 meeting minutes as published. Approval
passed unanimously, by voice vote.
VISITORS – None
PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Josh Kleen:
Thanks to all who came out last Saturday for the field work day. 17 members contributed to the work
removing the ruts left after WBOT rain. Dale O’Daniel took video of the work. Here is the link

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT — Wayne Shuck:
No report this month.
SECRETARY’S REPORT — Billy Slater:
We had a LiPo fire at the field this last Monday that will be covered in the Safety Report.
TREASURER’S REPORT — Dave Cotton:
Dave reported the financial condition as of the end of August. .
A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the financial report as presented by Dave. Approval
passed unanimously, by voice vote.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT – Bruce Lakatos:
Bruce reports 160 members as of the date of the meeting.
FIELD REPORT — Rex Lawerance:
Rex was not present.
Dale reported that the field was mowed last week.
Charles reported that rain is needed to set the areas tilled during last Saturday’ work day.
Thanks to Charlie Pyne for bringing out his tractor to help during work day. The club rented a large
tractor with a tiller to level the rutted areas. It was then rolled out by Rex with a weighted roller.
Josh has the combination to the neighbor’s gate in order to retrieve planes.
Bruce Lakatos reported that the neighbor to the south has “ 6 foot chickens” , really ostriches. Dale has a

SAFETY REPORT — Charles Schafer:
There was a LiPo fire at the field last Monday. This happened during charging of an undamaged battery.
Art Wagner reported that it was spectacular , sounding like a flash-bang. One fire fire extinguisher was
used.
Charles stated that electric models should not be armed under the shelter.
Josh Kleen stated that gloves should be used when hand starting gas or glow models.
SOUND REPORT – Billy Slater:
None.
TRAINING – Rich Phillips:
Rich has one student.
RAFFLE –Rich Phillips :
No raffle was held.
CD REPORTS and EVENTS:
Charles Schafer is working on Corps of Engineers approval for the October 23 Float Fly. The AMA
sanction and City approval have been obtained.
Richardson is holding a swap meet September 25.
Fort Worth Thunderbirds is holding a Jet Event September 25.
OLD BUSINESS:
None discussed.
NEW BUSINESS:
There is a new development being built to the North.
The October meeting site was discussed. It will either be held at the field or during the float fly.
